August 2010 Tasting Notes

  • N.V. Krug Champagne Grande Cuvée Brut - France, Champagne (8/28/2010)

last of the anniversary case. this had been cellared 6 years. never in retailers hands and super fresh still. that brightness playing with the nutty meatiness, with the creamy spice---its all there and lively and developing in the glass opening up revealing more exotic fruits, subtle spices. one of my faves for sure and actually a steal at the price. (94 points)
  • N.V. Mumm Napa Santana Brut - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/20/2010)

not so sweet. full and rich and fun.

  • N.V. Mumm Napa Brut Rosé - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/20/2010)

rooftop party hit on the upper west side (88 points)
  • 2009 Massaya Classic Rosé - Lebanon, Bekaa Valley (8/20/2010)

very good value rose. the people involved are amazing and this wine is humble but noble. and enjoyable. dry and clean with berry and peachy aromas. some citrus and more of the same flavors. refreshing.
